Welcome to our latest update! We’re thrilled to introduce a brand new, effortlessly charming cross stitch pattern to our beloved leaf series, and we also have some important news regarding access to our pattern library. We appreciate your patience as we make these essential improvements.
Embrace Nature with Our New Palm Frond Cross Stitch Pattern
Each month, we delight our crafting community by releasing fresh, original cross stitch patterns. As many of you know, my passion for plants runs deep, inspiring a vibrant collection of botanical cross stitch designs that I affectionately call the Leaf Series. This month, we’re expanding this popular series with a beautifully simple palm frond pattern, designed to complement your existing botanical projects. Imagine it alongside our intricate Monstera or vibrant Caladium leaf patterns, creating a stunning tropical tapestry in your home decor or as a thoughtful handmade gift. This new palm frond design brings a touch of serene greenery, perfect for both seasoned stitchers and those just discovering the calming art of cross stitching.

About the Simple Palm Frond Cross Stitch Pattern
This exquisite palm frond pattern is designed with simplicity and elegance in mind, making it an accessible project for stitchers of all skill levels. Here are the key details to get you started:
- Fabric: Expertly crafted for 14 count Aida fabric, providing a clear and manageable grid for precise stitching.
- Stitches: Features full counted cross stitches only, ensuring a straightforward and enjoyable stitching experience without complex techniques.
- Colors: Utilizes a palette of 12 carefully selected DMC floss colors, capturing the natural beauty and subtle variations of a real palm frond.
- Size: Once completed, the design measures approximately 5.8 inches by 4.4 inches, making it ideal for framing, embellishing cushions, or incorporating into larger themed projects.
The beauty of this palm frond pattern lies in its versatility. It can stand alone as a minimalist piece of art or be combined with other patterns from our Leaf Series to create a lush, indoor garden feel in your embroidery projects. It’s also a fantastic way to practice your basic cross stitch skills while producing something truly beautiful.
Frequently Used Cross Stitch Supplies
To help you gather everything you need for this enchanting palm frond project, or any future cross stitch adventure, here’s a comprehensive list of essential supplies. Having the right tools makes all the difference in achieving a smooth and satisfying stitching experience:
- Embroidery Hoops: Essential for keeping your fabric taut and your stitches even. Choose from various sizes and materials, with wooden hoops being a classic favorite.
- Needles: A good set of tapestry needles (blunt-tipped) is crucial for cross stitching. Sizes vary, so having a selection ensures you have the right needle for different fabric counts.
- DMC Embroidery Floss: Renowned for its quality and extensive color range, DMC floss is a staple for most cross stitch patterns. Our palm frond pattern specifies 12 beautiful DMC shades.
- Aida Cloth: The foundation of your cross stitch project. 14 count Aida is ideal for this pattern, providing clear squares for counting stitches. It’s available in various colors to suit your design.
- Needle Minder: A magnetic accessory that securely holds your needle when you take a break, preventing lost needles and keeping your workspace tidy. You can even DIY your own for a personal touch!
- Threader: A small but mighty tool that makes threading your needle a breeze, especially helpful for those with vision challenges or when working with multiple strands of floss.
- Thimble: Protects your finger from repeated needle pushes, particularly useful for dense fabrics or longer stitching sessions.
- Magnifying Glass: Perfect for detailed work or for those times when you need a closer look at your fabric’s grid. Many come with built-in lights for added convenience.
- Stitch Scissors: Small, sharp scissors designed for precision cutting of embroidery floss, essential for neat finishes.
Investing in quality supplies enhances your cross-stitching journey, making it more enjoyable and yielding more professional results. We’ve linked to some of our favorites to help you easily find what you need.

Important Update: Navigating Our Cross Stitch Pattern Library (Your Patience is Appreciated!)
I embarked on creating free cross stitch patterns a few years ago, quite spontaneously. The enthusiastic response to those initial designs inspired me to launch a free monthly series, with even more exclusive patterns available in my Etsy shop. Month after month, our little cross stitch community has grown exponentially, filled with eager new members. Witnessing so many of you enjoy these patterns truly warms my heart, and I’m incredibly grateful for your continuous support!
However, with growth often come a few growing pains. As our library has expanded, the infrastructure behind it has faced increasing demands. While I won’t delve into the technical minutiae (it’s mostly relevant for website administrators, and I wouldn’t want to bore you!), the time has come for a significant change to ensure the sustainability and accessibility of our free pattern library. The current email provider’s costs have become exceptionally high, and the maintenance required is diverting time I’d much rather spend on exciting new DIY projects and designing more patterns!
Therefore, I’m currently in the complex process of migrating to a new email provider. What seems like a simple “flip the switch” operation is, in reality, a multi-faceted task, and it’s taking a considerable amount of effort and time to execute smoothly.
What This Means for You, Our Valued Community:
Ideally, this transition should be seamless for you. However, we are currently experiencing some technical hurdles during this migration. These challenges regrettably impact not only cross stitch enthusiasts but also our wonderful subscribers who enjoy my other DIY content and download woodworking plans.
I’ve enlisted expert help to navigate these issues, but customer service teams across various platforms seem to be operating at a slower pace due to current global circumstances, which means some waiting is unavoidable. My primary goal is to have everything running smoothly, and hopefully even more efficiently than before, within this month. Therefore, I kindly ask for your patience and understanding if you encounter any difficulties accessing the library this month.
Should you face any frustration, please know that I completely empathize. The process involves meticulously exporting our extensive list of subscribed members, importing it into the new system, rigorously testing to ensure patterns land correctly in your inboxes, and carefully managing new sign-ups and unsubscribers during this transition period to avoid any mix-ups or accidental spam. This means there might be a small chance that some who sign up might not immediately appear on the new list, or vice versa.
Please remember that my intentions are always good, and I create these patterns for free and for the sheer joy of it. Constructive feedback is always welcome, but please keep in mind that unkind emails will not be well-received (especially since, as a heads-up, I’m also pregnant and quite tired!). Your understanding and support during this temporary phase are deeply appreciated as we work towards a better experience for everyone.

Speaking of Fun… An Exciting Collaboration is Here!
In addition to our free patterns, I’ve been diligently working on something truly special for the Etsy shop, in collaboration with a wonderful friend. Last year, I had the pleasure of meeting Shelby from Little Coffee Fox at a conference. Shelby is an incredibly talented bullet journal blogger whose organizational prowess stands in stark contrast to my own (it’s quite amusing how opposites attract in creative partnerships!).
I’ve always admired her uniquely sassy stickers, which bring such a fun and spirited vibe to planning. Inspired by their charm, I approached her with the idea of transforming some of these distinctive designs into cross stitch patterns. To my delight, she was enthusiastically on board with a collaboration! We’re planning to release several patterns under a playful “NSFW” category, bringing a fresh and cheeky twist to traditional cross stitching.
While these exclusive designs won’t be available for free here on the blog, they will be offered for a limited time in our Etsy store. I’m currently in the process of adding them, and I can’t wait for you to see what we’ve created, starting with this fantastic design:

Pretty fun, right? We believe these patterns will add a unique and humorous touch to your stitching repertoire, perfect for those who enjoy a bit of playful irreverence in their crafts.
