Welcome, fellow stitchers and DIY enthusiasts! It’s that exciting time of the month again – a fresh pattern release is here, ready to inspire your next cross stitch project. For years, this blog, The Ugly Duckling House (UDH), has proudly brought you a new cross stitch pattern every single month. To my delight and utter surprise, this segment has blossomed into one of the most cherished parts of our community here at UDH, and I have absolutely no plans to discontinue this beloved tradition.

However, The Ugly Duckling House has always primarily been a resource dedicated to the world of home improvement. Think demolition, exciting DIY projects, essential home repairs, and skilled woodworking – that’s our foundational passion. As our cross stitch community grew, it became clear that this creative craft deserved a dedicated space, a home of its own, to truly flourish. This strategic move allows UDH to refocus on its core mission while providing an even richer, more organized experience for our cross stitch audience.
To reiterate and reassure all our wonderful stitchers: I have absolutely no intention of stopping the monthly pattern releases. This beloved tradition will continue! There’s no need to panic; exciting changes are simply underway to enhance your crafting experience. 😉
As you might have discovered in my previous announcement, UDH has proudly launched its “sister” site, NeedleSpark. This new platform is entirely dedicated to the art of cross stitch, designed to be a comprehensive hub for all your stitching needs. While you’ll still find a fantastic monthly free pattern here on UDH, NeedleSpark offers an expansive world of exclusive content. For instance, if I create a charming collection of insect patterns, one might be featured as the free monthly pattern here, offering a delightful preview. However, the entire collection, along with many other unique designs and themed sets, will be available exclusively to members of NeedleSpark. This “win-win” approach allows us to provide regular free content while offering premium, organized collections for those who wish to delve deeper into their craft. It also keeps my creative process much better organized and streamlined!
For a more comprehensive understanding of the NeedleSpark launch and how this exciting new platform operates, I encourage you to read all about it here. Over time, NeedleSpark will evolve into a rich repository of cross stitch content. I’ll be continuously adding more designs, both as curated collections and unique one-off patterns. Beyond just patterns, NeedleSpark is also envisioned as a valuable learning resource, offering detailed tutorial-based instructions to help you master various aspects of the craft, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced stitcher looking to refine your skills. You can already explore previews of most available collections, giving you a taste of what’s on offer. To actually download these premium patterns and access the full breadth of content, becoming a paid member is required. Furthermore, many patterns that were previously hosted on the UDH site and are now archived have found their permanent home on NeedleSpark, ready for members to download and enjoy!
Alright, enough of my enthusiastic self-promotion (I genuinely poured my heart into NeedleSpark and these new patterns, so I can’t help but be proud!). Let’s dive into this month’s delightful free pattern!
